"Be the change you want to see in the world."

This sentiment, sometimes attributed to Mahatma Gandhi but stated, in some form, by many great men from Jesus Christ to Martin Luther King Jr., is one of my guiding principles.

Another guiding principle is my continued belief in the American Dream of home ownership. I believe we are most empowered, as individuals and as a nation, when we control our own destinies; when we own as much of our futures as possible. For most people, the most common way to begin on this ownership path is to own their own homes.

Home ownership means you're not paying rent toward someone else's dream. Home ownership means you're creating wealth while you sleep. Home ownership means stability.

Taken together, these principles for my mission:

"To be the change I want to see in the world by creating an ownership society one home at a time."

How do I live out that mission? By helping you! Buying or selling a home is often a complicated and daunting prospect, and shouldn't be entered into lightly. I've seen many people "go it alone" when buying or selling a home. Some are successful, but many make costly mistakes along the way and, even those who didn't, were so stressed out by the end of the transaction, they wished they'd let someone else take on some of the burden.

So let me relieve some of that burden and help avoid some of those costly mistakes by guiding you through the challenging process that is buying or selling your home.

I've worked, full time, in residential real estate for a number of years. I've also taken hundreds of hours of classes to learn about regulations and laws, negotiation, marketing, market economics, and much more. Some of these classes even give me the privilege of putting a bunch of letters after my name!(SRS, MCNE, and CREA)

On a personal note, my wife, Rosie, and I have three sons (Andrew, 8; James, 6; and Peter, 2). We live in Coeur d’Alene and attend Anthem CDA Church.

We love the parks and wilderness that surround us and the friendliness that comes from living in a smaller town. We also enjoy skiing, hiking, camping, boating, and traveling, both here in the U.S. and abroad. 

I'm a Den Leader in my two older sons' Cub Scout Pack, an incoming board member of the Rotary Club of Coeur d'Alene Sunrise, and a member of the Idaho Writers League (Coeur d’Alene Chapter).

When I'm not busy with all the above actives, I enjoy writing (fiction, poetry, and social commentary) and contribute to a weekly podcast about the ways God is working in our world.

Mark and Wendy and their team at the Lister Group did a fantastic job in helping me with the purchase of a new home and the sale of my previous home. Throughout both transactions, they were in constant communication, letting me know what the next steps would be.

With the purchase of my new home, Mark successfully negotiated a back up offer so that when the original purchasers backed out, I was first in line.  I never would have purchases my dream house if it was not for Mark's guidance and persistence.

And with the sale of my previous home, they did an even more impressive job, coordinating with contractors to get the home ready to list, marketing it to the surrounding neighborhood and beyond, and bringing in their own staging furniture to make the home really shine. Mark Griswold served as the listing agent for the sale of our house in Issaquah. My wife and I are very happy with the service that Mark provided. 

When going through our house prior to listing, Mark was very attentive to the condition of the house and made great recommendations regarding how to prepare the house for listing. We had some notions going into the process about things that needed to be done to make the home marketable. The recommendations that Mark made were less involved than what we had anticipated before we contracted with him. We were pleased with his recommendation that we do LESS than what we thought needed doing.

During the process of getting the house ready for showing, Mark was very attentive to the process of cleaning the house, cleaning the yard, and staging the interior.

Most importantly, Mark was very knowledgeable regarding the market situation in our neighborhood and worked with us so that we could understand the existing situation and arrive at a mutually agreeable listing price.

Once the house was listed, Mark stayed on top of the situation. He attended the brokers’ open, and manned two open houses over the weekend. 

When multiple offers were in hand, based on the open house showings, Mark walked us diligently through the process which led to a successful offer acceptance and sale closure.

The time of our listing, and the market in our neighborhood, made us very happy that Mark was able to correctly price the house, and successfully bring the sale to a conclusion. I would definitely recommend Mark as an agent that will give great customer service to his clients.

Mark listed our condo for a little less than $1.5 million. It sold in two days and the contract was signed in three. It was a very quick sale at well over asking, which was the best part, but the amazing part was that, while we were listing it, Mark told us we were likely to get $100,000 more than what we were asking and it turned out we got $110,000 so he was pretty darn accurate. He was less than 1% off on his market analysis, which was amazing. He's a great person to work with, pleasant demeanor, and very professional, very helpful, and knows his stuff. We recommend Mark highly.
